Hans Höger
Design theorist, consultant, author

Hans Höger (* 1960), Ph.D. in Cultural Studies, teaches theory and history of design and communication at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. He studied art history, romance philology, folklore and empirical cultural sciences at the Universities of Bonn, Perugia, Tübingen and Quimper. In 1996 he was appointed Commissioner of the German participation at 19th Milan Triennale (“Identity and Differences: The Future of Urban Living Spaces”). In the same year he was responsible for the programme “Attitudes for the New Millennium” within the IDCA International Design Conference in Aspen/Colorado. He was associate lecturer at the Bocconi University (Milan), as well as visiting and guest professor at Würzburg, Saarbrücken, Zurich and New York. In his work as a consultant for companies and design studios, he focuses his attention upon design topics in the context of economics, culture and society. Numerous publications, amongst others two monographs on the work of Michele De Lucchi and Ettore Sottsass jr. The topics of his most recent publications regard Design & Politics, Designing with Light, Experience Design, Cultural Engineering and Zurich-Milano: graphical encounters between 1945 and 1970.

Antonino Benincasa
Designer

Antonino Benincasa, designer (* 1967). In 1993 he graduated in Visual Communicaton at the HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd. He moves from Germany to Italy in 1996 and opens in Milan his own design office "72 dpi". Between 1997 und 2005 he teaches Visual Communication at the Politecnico di Milano, Faculty of Industrial Design. In 1999 together with Nicole Husmann he opens in Milan the design office "Husmann-Benincasa Corporate & Brand Design". In 2000 he is the winner of the international contest for the logogram of the Olympic Winter Games in Turin 2006. Furthermore, he designs also the logogram of the Paraolympic Games and of all sub-brands related to the Olympic Winter Games in Turin. In 2001 he is commissioned by TOROC (Turin Organizing Committee) to design the entire corporate identity of the XXth Olympic Winter Games in Turin 2006. From 2003 to 2006 he is Member of the AIAP Board (Association of Italian Graphic Designers); since 2004 he is member of the Ministero della Grafica. In 2005 he is appointed professor at Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Faculty of Design and Art. Antonino Benincasa lives and works in Bozen-Bolzano.
