Nine students, eight days, one workshop
The internationally reknowned coffee manufacturer illycaffé offered again to students a new task for the magazine ILLYWORDS. Illy became attentive to the University of Bozen by the exhibition "Pappilan" on the furniture fair of Milan "Salone del Mobile 2003" and decided to work together with the Faculty of Design and Art. Under my guidance nine students of the University of Bozen received the task to design new pictorial material for the magazine ILLYWORDS number eleven. The topic assigned by Illy, which had to be visualized was: "Different Cultures". The students were completely free in the interpretation, visualisation and individual realisation of this topic. It was expected by them to develop independent, visual concepts in form of illustrations, collages and photographies etc... The work was developed within a Workshop of eight days, which was distributed on over one month. The results of the Workshop are to be seen in the projects: Comumigration | Symbolmapping | Babiworld | Kali Yuga | Vital Diffusion | Insert Coin | Intermutation | Monoculture. The texts of the magazine were written, as into the preceding issues, by important personalities from very diverse cultural ranges. Additionally, concepts for a possible new layout of the magazine should be compiled. This research resulted in two possible Design variants: - illywords classic - illywords pocket. The student layout concepts can be seen by the links: Layout pocket and layout Classic. The magazine ILLYWORDS number eleven (however still in the old layout) can be received directly by Illy.
