Call for Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

The European Conference for Social Work Research provides a space for the creation of international groups of scholars interested in working together during and between conferences on specific themes. Themes could be particular subjects of research, such as social work history, or specific social work research issues, such as participation in the process of knowledge production, or research methods, as for instance the use of research methods such as narrative research or randomized control trials. The interest groups offer the opportunity  for developing debate and knowledge exchange, developing strands of social work research, as well as promoting cross-national new projects. They will support the aims of the planned European Social Work Research Association.

The 4th European Conference will continue in this tradition, and for the first time will schedule opportunities for such SIGs to meet within the conference programme. In order to facilitate the meetings of special interest groups, this call invites representatives/conveners of all pre-existing and new SIGs to notify the conference planning group in advance so that we can collect the convener contact information, schedule the groups, and provide a meeting space for the groups.

We invite therefore all interested to write your proposal and send it by mail ECSWR-2014@unibz.it by no later than 24.00  on 31st of January 2014. By the 15 of February we will publish the list of all the special groups and will offer the participants to the conference the opportunity to subscribe to a group. The groups will be officially recognized and programmed, and provided a room, when they have a minimum of 6 members, so advance signing up is important. Smaller groups will be offered a common room for self-organization.
