Björn Bartholdy (*1965) is professor of Audiovisual Media at the Köln International School of Design. Since 2006 he is head of the Bachelor program in European Design.
From 1987 to 1991 Björn Bartholdy studied communication design (Dipl.) at Merzakademie Stuttgart. From 1992 to 1994 he studied media design (Dipl.) at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. At the same time he worked as a freelancer for the Bayerischer Rundfunk, RTL, VOX and VIVA.
In 1994 Björn Bartholdy founded cutup, a media design agency. Until 2002 he was managing director and creative director of cutup. The agency (bought up by Bertelsmann in 1999) had been awarded various national and international prices in the fields of film, television design, and new media.
From 1999 and 2002 he was supervisor of the department of virtual design of Filmacademy Baden-Württemberg, Ludwigsburg. Afterwards, until 2004, Björn Bartholdy was in charge of content strategies at verytv, Cologne. For many years he has been a board member of Eyes and Ears of Europe, the european association for design, promotion and marketing of audiovisual media.
