Shinichi Ito (*1968), since 2008 Professor of Interior Design at Musashino Art University in Tokyo. In 1991 he received his B.A in Industrial, Interior and Craft Design from Musashino Art University. 1993 he graduated from the Graduate School of Engineering of Shibaura Institute of Technology. 1993/94 he was an assistant architect in Ushida Findlay Partnership and Ogitsu Architect Studio. 1996 to 1999 he was a lecturer in Furniture Design at Takoradi Polytechnic, Republic of Ghana. After returning to Japan in 2000 he founded his own firm Shinichi Ito Design Office and from 2004 to 2007 he was senior lecturer in Interior Design at Musashino Art University.

In 2006 Shinichi Ito was the director of the Low seating and small space project with IKEA Sweden, and project leader of the EDS Bamboo Design Project 2008 – 2010. In 1993 he won the Grand Prize in the jewry Creative Design Contest and received an honorable mention in the Central Grass International Architecture Design Conpetition. He is a co-author of the book Fiber Plants of Africa and their Usage, which was published by the Japan Association for International Collaboration of Agriculture and Forestry.
