Guta Moura Guedes, co-founder of “Experimenta - Association for the Promotion of Design and Design Culture”, a non-profit cultural association created in Lisbon in 1998, of which she has been Chair since 2000. She is co-responsible for the curatorship of all the projects the association has organized since its inception, as well as managing Experimenta’s institutional and international relations and its strategic development. Having originally studied piano, biology and management, she started working as a designer in 1992. From 1997 onwards she has been involved in several inter-disciplinary design projects, acting as a designer, writer, consultant, TV journalist and curator. From 2003 to 2006 she was a member of the management council of Lisbon Design Museum. From 2004 to 2005 Guta was culture administrator of the Centro Cultural de Belém Foundation. In 2005 she was asked to create and coordinate the first Design Graduate course and Post-Graduations in Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (to be started in 2007/2008). In addition she is a communication, design and development consultant for Casa da Música, Rem Koolhaas' spectacular new building in Porto. She integrates the International Think Tank of the Scottish event “Six Cities Design Festival”, and she is member of the International Advisory Committee of “Torino World Design Capital 2008”. She co-designed the project for the urban re-qualification of the 72nd edition of the Lisbon Book Fair (2002) and curated several projects on the interdisciplinarity of design and its ties to other areas of creative practice, namely music and writing, participating in both solo and group exhibitions. In March 2005 she was distinguished by the French Government with the “Ordre de Chevalier des Arts e des Lettres”.
