Introduction
Numerous expectations directed towards design research exist from economic side. Enterprises are dedicating increasing attention and space to this working area - also inside their own corporate structures. On the other hand, important impulses for the development of innovative products and services arise even from design research activity practised outside the industry. Being located at an interface position between economy, society and culture, design and design research contain a high potential for different forms of cooperation and reciprocal impact. A significative historical reference, in that sense, is constituted by Adriano Olivetti’s (1901-1960) work and life.
