Andreas Hapkemeyer

Andreas Hapkemeyer (*1955; Dr. habil.) is a specialist in German studies and an art historian. He is a freelance curator, author and lecturer in German studies and the history of art at the University of Innsbruck and in communication science at the University of Bozen. He is also General Secretary of the International Foundation Manifesta, Amsterdam. In 1995 he became professor of New German Literature at the University of Innsbruck. From 2000 to 2006 he was Director of the Museion, Bozen. In 2007-2009 he was the co-ordinator of Manifesta 7, and is today responsible for research at the Museion. His main areas of research are intermediality and image-text relations.

  • Books published on Ingeborg Bachmann, Friedrich Dürrenmatt and Language in Art. Exhibition catalogues on Hamish Fulton, Heinz Gappmayr, Matt Mullican, Maurizio Nannucci, Raymond Pettibon, Lawrence Weiner among others, as well as on the horizontal, art and advertising, and the line in recent art.
