Gert Selle
(* 1933; Prof. em.) was a student of German studies and history of art at the University of Frankfurt am Main, where he also studied painting and graphic arts at the Städelschule (Academy of Art) and taught art in local high schools for eight years. In 1968 he joined the Darmstadt School of Arts and Crafts (later the Technical College for Design) as a lecturer, and in 1973 was appointed to the chair of art at the Lower Saxony Institute of Education, Brunswick. From 1980 he worked as full professor for theory, didactics and practice of aesthetic education at the University of Oldenburg, where he was elected emeritus professor 1998. He now lives in Munich.
