Abstract:
This project is based on the conviction that interdisciplinary and 'transversal' studies on urban topics can demonstrate basic impulses for the development of innovative designs in the sector of open space planning. Design, architecture and urban development meet up together in this context.

Integrated also in didactics, the research project focuses mainly on the development of changes in the public space of today's city, understood as meeting place of social interaction and communication. Starting from the assumption that the contribution of 'other' disciplines is able to detect those gaps in the description of today's city that the tools of traditional urban development are unable to deal with and that therefore lead to unsatisfactory results in the planning and administration of public space. The project deals with the topic and integrates contributions from other disciplines such as art, design, photography and film into the results of traditional urban analysis.

Innovative urban studies, multidisciplinarity, action for its own sake and interventions in public space as well as perception of the urban space, situationism, art in the public space and citizen participation are only some of the basic aspects that were examined within the scope of this study.
