Michael Dürfeld

Michael Dürfeld (*1971, Dr.-Ing.) is an associate scientist at the Innovationszentrum Wissensforschung (IZW) of the Technical University, Berlin. He studied architecture and urban planning in Hamburg and Berlin and in 2000 graduated in engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) from the Hamburg University of Fine Arts. Between 2001-03 he had a scholarship at the German Research Foundation’s research training group Praxis und Theorie des künstlerischen Schaffensprozesses at the Berlin University of the Arts; in 2007 he was awarded his doctorate in engineering (Dr.-Ing.) in architectural theory at the Technical University, Berlin (subject: Das Ornamentale und die architektonische Form. Systemtheoretische Irritationen). His research focuses on the interference between architectural theory, art theory and systems theory.
